It's no secret that we've been on hiatus for awhile--things slowed down, and we had our last major event in October 2009. Between a combination of internal dispute within old staff and eAthena's own lack of updating, Ragnarok stagnated. However, thanks to recent efforts between Aurin and myself, I am pleased to announce for those currently unaware that TwilightRO is
not dead, and will be soon experiencing a large rebirth.
Using a new custom source code breaking off of Athena, I am even more pleased to announce that upon TwilightRO's reopening, we will have full access to the use of third-classes in-game. Most work on the classes is complete, though there are a few still being finished, due to the nature of new, unfamiliar skill mechanics. That said, however, all third-classes' appearances will be available at the very least for roleplaying purposes.
Twilight will also now be using kRO's Renewal game mechanics, and has been fully updated beyond eAthena to kRO Episode XIII.2, with some areas of XIII.3 added as well. We hope to launch the new Twilight within a week's time, and for the sake of some transparency within the staff, here are some of the things already finished or nearly completed.
- New Origins NPC, providing new races and faction allegiance option
- Two all new starting hub areas in the vein of the Elysian Grande, one for each faction, with a third neutral ground to be added.
- New Lore NPCs, providing more than just merchants within each hub. Story and setting information will be provided in an IC manner.
- New merchants, providing new headgear options and many requested items for class crafting skills.
There are only a few steps left before we'll be able to open things fully once again. In the meantime, you might notice some additions around the forum as well. Information is being reorganized, added, and edited. Some things currently completed include re-edited cities of Midgard, edited racial information and one of the new basic races, additions to the Runic Timeline, and a post related to the new Valcean pantheon.
Finally, the last new addition comes in the form of the
Twilight Wiki. This is open to all who register for a Wikia account, and will provide a new, comprehensive and better organized and searchable index for lore, character information, and more.
That all said, we hope to see both newcomers and old faces alike giving the new Twilight RO a chance. We fully intend for this new rebirth to be the biggest yet in our five year history.
